Update from Margaret. Their spirits are good, now daily life - TopicsExpress

Update from Margaret. Their spirits are good, now daily life begins in earnest. Please, stay tuned for an announcement about an organized work day and Ceili Benefit Concert September 27!! Meanwhile, enjoy Margarets latest news!! Well, we have been home for a week now and Carl continues to heal and grow stronger. His great attitude is doing so much to help him toward recovery! We put him in the the van and took him down the hill so he could sit in his wheelchair by the fish pond, and that made him so happy! His wounds contiue to heal nicely, although we pulled some bits of tree bark out his back side the other day....imagine that! The large wound on the front of the groin has gotten smaller and smaller and is now starting to close over. The marvelous wound-vac technology is to thank for such speedy healing! By using negative pressure, it actually causes new tissue to grow faster and helps the wounds to shrink in size much faster than regular dressings. We made our first trip to the doctor for follow-up xrays and the hip fracture is healing well. There could be a hip replacement surgery in the future, however, due to lost or damaged cartilege in the hip joint. And we will soon see the prosthetics group to talk about fitting for his arm. It is amazing how this experience has opened my eyes to the many, many people around me who deal with missing limbs, life in a wheelchair, or as caregivers or assitants for those who are disabled. I have new profound respect and awareness and compassion for these daily overlooked heroes. Once again, I wish to thank everyone who has helped our family during these difficult weeks. Your love and support mean more than I can ever express in words! May God bless and richly reward your kindness! We will continue to need help around the property for several more months.... If any dance family is able to help sweep/mop/clean the grange hall either tomorrow, Monday Sept. 1 or on Tuesday morning to prepare for classes, please let me know! Short notice, I know, and I apologize. My days are just filled taking care of my sweetie, and I still cant think ahead very well. Also, maybe next Saturday, if anyone is available to help with general clean up around the yard and forest, limbing trees, hauling away clean green piles, cutting and stacking firewood --- please let me know or show up around 10:00. I love you all so much and want you to know that the Grange is yours to use in return for you kindness and help. If anyone feels led to help financially, you can go to any US Bank branch and ask to donate to the account set up in Carl Evans name. We are especially grateful for this! May God shine His love and blessings down upon each one of you, dear friends! Keep the prayers going! We covet them and lean on them! Margaret
