Update from MaryEsther: Cole seems to be tolerating the chemo - TopicsExpress

Update from MaryEsther: Cole seems to be tolerating the chemo just fine so far. He woke up a little grumpy, but that is not unusual for him! ;) we have been told that this particular chemo tends to have delayed nausea/vomiting that may not show up for 2-3 days. We are prepared for anything, but so thankful that everything has gone smoothly sofar. In case you were wondering...The procedure for administering Cisplatin: Preventative nausea meds ran for 1 hour, the chemo ran for 6 hours last night and now fluids will run for 24 hours because this particular chemo is so hard on the kidneys. This should be the routine every time we are given Cisplatin. The plan, as of right now, is to give chemo about once a week (depending on how Cole tolerates it) for about 10 weeks. It wont always be Cisplatin, it may be one of the other two types of chemo, or a combination. Once the tumor has shrunk enough, we will have the surgery to remove the tumor then 10 more weeks of chemo. Again, this is ALL subject to change at any time, but it is a short summary of the game plan for those that have been asking. We learned very quickly that nothing is ever set in stone here. Please continue to pray that he will have no harsh side effects and that the chemo is killing the cancer right now as we speak!
