Update from Matthew Munson Morning all, I read an article - TopicsExpress

Update from Matthew Munson Morning all, I read an article about the Disability Living Fund in Private Eye over the weekend, and wanted to share it with you. The fund currently stands at £320 million, and the appeal court outlawed the governments plans to outlaw the fund last November. However, Disabilities Minister Mike Penning has announced that the government will be transferring the fund to local authorities soon (not sure of the date), without any ring-fencing. A report, entitled “Counting the Cuts” and written by the Centre for Welfare Reform, have calculated that current austerity measures are disproportionately affecting the 4.5 million people who have a severe disability, and that disabled people living in poverty bear four times the average burden of the cuts - £4,660 compared to the average £1,126. Thanks,
