Update from NYCT (via email, 11/7/13): Regarding a proposal to operate and stage a “redbird” train in order to collect holiday donations, Please be advised that the redbird cars are not available for this type of event. However we may have other historic cars available for such an event. One item of note to also consider is that anyone wishing to bring a donation would have to pay their fare to enter the station and proceed to the platform. Because of the lack of availability of R33/R36 class cars, we are now working on using a historic or contemporary bus as mentioned for our event. We hope 9586-87 will be refurbished and in service next year.
