Update from Sophias foster mummy Suzanne. We had the vet check - TopicsExpress

Update from Sophias foster mummy Suzanne. We had the vet check - Michael Higgins / Nerang Equine Veterinary practice - first of all thankfully she is not in foal. Michael regarded her as emaciated and scored her a 2 out of 9 for condition - her teeth were, and to some degree still are, appalling - we have attended to what is left of her back teeth but we cant do anything about her front teeth so she must stay on moistened hard feed for life if she is to maintain her condition once we have got weight on her. She has lice, mites and sores on her legs which are very tender - her feet are terrible and she is sore in 2 feet and her nearside front has a problem at the coronary band - I have spoken to my farrier and he is coming out to start the long process of reshaping and rebalancing so that we can grow new hooves. I have had bloods done on her and will have the results tomorrow. She has been wormed and had the first of many Malaseb baths yet to come. Throughout all this she was calm and relaxed - we had to sedate her for her teeth because the crowns were really thin so the procedure was painful. She is a delightful soul, but she told me that she really appreciates everything that we are doing to help her, but that she has had enough tuff stuff for today - but her bath did make her feel much better.
