Update from TEAM CODY HEADQUATERS>>>> Like I said earlier I have been relieved by Tina and returned to home. But wanted to share the progress that Cody had made since the last update. The physical therapist have been working Cody hard this week. I can only try to imagine what he is going through. For someone that has basically laid in the bed or on the coach when he wasnt sitting in his chair, he has had a rude awakening. The therapist had him today to stand and take six steps. Of course they where helping with his control and trying to help keep to much weight from being supplied. He made the six steps, sat down in the lap of the therapist and was asked if he wanted to walk back? Of course he said yes, and back up he went, 6 steps back to the bench from which he started from. I cant remember the movie name, but Robert DeNiro and Cuba Gooding Jr. star in it, about a Navy salvage diver. If you have seen this movie, Cody reminded me of Cuba when he had to take the twelve steps with the diving suit. The determine nation of Cuba to take the twelve steps and Cody where spot on. It was good to see that Cody remembered how to and to get his feet and legs to move the wau they needed to. Wasnt the prettiest steps but they were steps and will get better the more he works. Had a different OT therapist today and this one caught the full force of Codys determination. He seen a car simulator that was on the wall that the children could play with and wanted to give it a shot. He was sitting on a bench with the therapist was helping him from behind. Cody started changing the gears and the selector was kinda tight moving through the gear pattern, and got jammed. When this happened he threw a full blow melt down, the therapist thought he was hurting and slid him off the bench to let him rest and at the same time he was doing all he could to get back to the bench. The therapist looked at me and I went over and got him calmed down I looked at the therapist and said that she could tell the therapist from the day before with the puzzle that she hadnt seen nothing!!! LOL She was confused and I felt the gear selector and it had gotten wedged in the track and he couldnt move it, so he was going to move it one way or the other, I told her that was the problem, put him back on the bench and he went back to his content way, She giggled and said boy, he is determined isnt he.
