Update from one of our Everyday Hero supporters. Just to let you know that Rhys and are plugging away at the walking and having an amazing time. Overall the weather has been wonderful to us although I will confess we always have our raincoat handy and often are in need of it. The British Isles do not share the same antipodean climate we enjoy. We started walking in Scotland with the ambitious target of Ben Nevis. Ignorance is bliss they say and in this case were grateful of it. I have fallen in love with Scottish history and their poets, particularly Robert Burns. We are 70 miles ticked off to date, slightly behind our 100 mile target and for those that know me you will know how this is really winding me up. We are off to Germany today to go volunteer in a couple of farms in Germany and Switzerland and hope to walk every night to keep the tally going. We are starting with a few days in Obendorf specifically to walk with Rhys cousin and his wife so that should get the tally up a little more. I have posted all walks on my facebook – address below (please like the page when you look as well) and to date I think there is about $230 or $280 in the Arthritis NZ kitty. Please let your friends know of this task and encourage their support so we can hit the target. Ironically, my lovely dog has been diagnosed with arthritis in one of his hind legs while I have been away and is suffering in your winter coldness. He is having a series of injections to ease the pain so now I walk for my furry companion as well. Will update again soon. I hope you are faring well in the cold snap NZ is experiencing.
