Update from yesterdays meetings......... First off I would like to thank my friends and family for attending. One girl brought half of her government economics class to the meeting to help show support for me. It felt great to give those guys a preview of what they are gonna see in November. YOUNG PEOPLE on the move, active, working. The fiscal court approved my request to start a Youth Activities Committee. This committee will be chosen by the Magistrates and they each get to pick 2 members from their district to serve on the committee. I asked to be considered as a member for district 6 and that was approved as well. I will be contacting all the magistrates in about a week to find out who they have picked. If anybody is interested in working on this committee CONTACT YOUR MAGISTRATE TODAY! The difference between this group and other local charity groups is that we will NEVER ask the county or city for money. The YAC will focus efforts on grant writing, donations from citizens and businesses, and hosting local events. We are going to be raising money to begin youth recreation projects in the county, such as, a drive in theatre, internet park, and skate park. I will not accept the position of chairman of this committee. I just want to have a voice. Also, my workload may increase a lot in the next couple months and I just want somebody in charge of The YAC who will be able to focus all their time to that group. I promise I will still be an extremely active and valuable member. After the fiscal court meeting I walked over to city hall and sit in on my first city council meeting. It was entertaining to say the least. I got on the agenda and asked the city to donate 2 porta potties to Woodystock on October 25th. Woodystock is a completely free show!! It will feature bands from all over Kentucky next month, all of which are playing for free and will bring in fans and friends from their hometowns into MANCHESTER!. Clay County will get tourists and they will spend their money here eating and gassing up and at the end of the day it doesnt cost the city and the county a thing beside a couple crappers and a few hours of noise pollution :). Since Clay County Days has been cancelled and our county has not had a fair or festival this year, I dont think the people of Clay County are asking to much to have a few hours out of this entire year to enjoy ourselves. We have already begun booking for Woodystock. Next months show will feature bluegrass, country, southern rock, hard rock, and maybe even some METAL. We are also looking into acquiring a few novelty booths to be at this event. Concessions will be available as well. Thank you all for your time and interest. Thank you all for your support and for loving your county. Thank you all for encouraging me. I couldnt get anything done if I didnt think I had people behind me wanting me to push forward. That is how we can move clay county forward. Everybody just get behind the ole girl and push.........BOOM.
