Update...my dad woke up today. He is still in ICU but hopefully being moved to a private room tomorrow. Not out of the woods but conscious enough to ask for pain med. Thank you so much to Gayle Reinhart for telling me about the problems with Ativan causing respiratory depression especially in the elderly. We found out that is the medicine they were giving him, had it stopped immediately, and he was off the ventilator within 24 hours and woke up within 24 hours of getting off the ventilator. Thank you, thank you, Thank you. This is an example of the good that comes from social media. Hopefully a tragedy avoided.
