Update on Alyssa. She is on and off cooling blanket to help with her temperature. She is still on sedation (trying to wean but need to keep her calm due to brain swelling) still on heparin for blood clot. Last MRI of spine was normal. She is bouncing around a bit with what she does but this morning she stuck out her tongue and squeezed her eyes shut on command. The nurse practitioner said that sometimes they feel some things are more difficult but it is good she is following commands meaning she is hearing and processing information. Still on ventilator not super high settings which is good. Until they are pretty sure she will not need the support they will not remove the ventilator. Think that is all for now. as you can probably tell the progress and amt of information is slowing. I know friends of hers are wanting to see her however, as you can see she is not responsive and she is having problems with her heart rate that are even worsened if we her parents touch her the doctor wants none of her friends to visit at this time until she is more stable. We appreciate the concern and I am sure Alyssa does too and as soon as things change we will let you know. Thank you for your understanding.
