Update on Ari:- When we have a little sick joey, one of us - TopicsExpress

Update on Ari:- When we have a little sick joey, one of us becomes the primary care and although we both work together and discuss everything together, the primary carer makes the final decisions as to the treatment and care we give and to any changes. With Ari, Terry has been his primary carer and what a wonderful job he has done. No stone was left unturned in searching for a successful treatment for Ari. This precious little man has had a really hard time of late. Ari developed bloat and it has been a real battle to save him over the last 8 weeks. On 4 occasions we thought we had lost him but each time he has rallied. We tried different treatments and he would come good then just as we thought we were winning he would take a turn for the worst. We have tried so many things - changing formula, taking him off all formula, wondering if it was an allergic reaction to milk of any description. So many different treatments, et cetera. Dr. Roger, the vet, was in Coober Pedy earlier this week (before the big rain) and checked up on the progress of Ari (and all the kangaroos) and is very happy with them. Ari has been improving daily this time round for the last 2 weeks and we are pretty sure he is on the road to recovery. The poor little fella lost so much weight and had no energy at all but now loves spending time out of his pouch, exploring inside, a little time outside (weather permitting), his eyes are clear and moist and he has found his appetite again. He is enjoying solid foods once again and we have him settled on soy milk for now.
