Update on Bubbys speech therapy journey (in as few words as I can - TopicsExpress

Update on Bubbys speech therapy journey (in as few words as I can muster). Got a call from the district speech testing lady (she has a long title, but thats what Ill call her). Very nice. She is recommending him for the program. She had interviewed teachers at the old school who said his speech wasnt that bad and others needed it more and he is highly aware of his speech issue, intelligent, and he should overcome it with time. These statements intrigued her since the kid just turned 6 so she met with Bubby last week to test him. The word for word test, she understood him fine. The comprehension test, he blew out of the water. Then she started to just talk to him and she immediately heard all of his blending and speech issues. When she asked Bubby to tell her about his speech, she said he simply said, Im smart. Very smart. Im not stupid at all. Just because I cant articulate my words doesnt mean Im stupid. I dont like when people call me stupid. Im smart. That sentiment (thats exactly what she said he said) sold her 100% that my child needs, deserves, and WILL GET his therapy. The fact that he is so intelligent, so acutely aware of his issue, and the fact that the kid uses words like articulate, is the exact reason she feels that he is the PERFECT candidate for speech therapy and should be moved to the top of the list. BAM.
