Update on Callie: Callie is doing well and growing too fast ( 3 months old & almost 13 lbs plus showing signs she may be teething soon). We are so proud of our girl who has come so far. She is doing well with feeds through her G-Tube ( 21 mL/hr) and as her milk intake increase her level of TPN (supplements) decreases which is progress. Today was a big day for her as she is no longer in NICU but has been moved to the 4th floor of Janeway. Its an adjustment for her and us but we know this is another step in the right direction and she continues to get quality care. Its still day by day with ups and downs but she continues to improve.... we love you so much baby girl! We have mixed feelings about her leaving the NICU, on positive side it is because she no longer needs critical intensive care and is getting older and needs other types of stimulation better suited to a 3 month olds needs as well as it allows for less restrictive visiting and more parental responsibilities. We have confidence in the team now caring for Callie but we will miss those who have been caring for her thus far. The NICU has been Callies home for 3mths. From that first fateful day to now, staff has provided Callie (and us) with so much support (medically & emotionally) and we are forever grateful. Nurses have cried & laughed with us. They helped us through the most difficult situation any parent can go through. Callie initially was given little chance of survival and by a miracle she survived. They kept her stable through 5 O.R trips (4 surgeries) and maintained daily life with its many ups & downs. They invest their skill and heart into their patients and they are a very important part of our daughters life. Nothing can explain how we feel towards them so we will simply offer a sincere THANK YOU to the NICU nurses, staff and Callies doctors who have gotten her to this point. The next part in Callies recovery is beginning and we know she will continue to receive the best medical treatment and patient care.
