Update on Carol. She had the CT scan and they found 2 different pockets of fluid inside her abdomen cavity. One of the fluid pockets is pushing against the area of the pancreas where she had the surgery. This is what is causing the pain that she is having. The infection is being caused by having fluid inside the area. The body tries to heal itself so that is why we are going from temps of 99 to 102. Tomorrow we with the doctor will make a decision on what to do. They can use a needle to pull the fluid out. They will probably not use this approach because the fluid pocket is very near the surgery site of her pancreas. The 2nd option is to put her to sleep and insert another drainage tube. This too is difficult because she is weak and another surgery however minor would put a lot of stress on her system. The 3rd option and probably the one that we will do is to bring her home either tomorrow or Monday and do the antibiotics at home and see if the body will absorb the fluid over a couple of weeks time.
