Update on Chase (Plowboy) Mathis: Last night was good for Chase and today was a good day also! His Trach tube has been downsized from a size 8 down to a size 6! 👏 yay! This is part of the decannulation process where they will eventually remove the Trach tube. From the size 6 tube they will go down to a size 4 and after that is when they will remove the Trach tube! They had Chase try a speech valve with his Trach tube today but not enough air passed through the valve and he wasnt able to speak. They will make another attempt later. Physical Therapist (PT) worked with Chase again today. 💪. He did really good! PT complimented Chase on his alertness and cooperation with their verbal commands! They are primarily working on his upper body coordination and strength at this time. Chase is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning at 8:00. This is the surgery on his ankles theyve postponed from Saturday. They will be repairing right ankle with placement of screws & plate and they will be removing screws & plate from left ankle from a previous surgery. WOW! Today has been GREAT! Chase has been alert and much was accomplished! A lot of baby steps were made! 👣👣👣👣👣 Im so excited 🎉🎈and so very much THANKFUL!!!!! ✨ Please continue to pray for Chases strength & recovery and his surgical teams and all his medical staff. 😄
