Update on Dad: There were some additional compression fractures - TopicsExpress

Update on Dad: There were some additional compression fractures that need to be treated, per the neurosurgeon (after getting the results of the bone scan). Dad will be having his kyphoplasty surgery on Monday, tentatively. The hospitalist requested to upgrade Dads status from observation to in-patient, and we are waiting for the insurance to approve that. In the meantime, Dad remains in observation (room #15 at Henry Ford Hospital on 19 Mile in Clinton Twp) for pain management. His kidney numbers are improving (partly due to getting excess fluids removed), which is great news! As a result, they are loosening up his diet so that he can have foods that he enjoys more (hes not eating well). So far, hes not having problems with swallowing, which is also great news. This often becomes a problem when he has to be on narcotics for pain management. Overall, we are very happy. The kyphoplasty should relieve pain in his back (it did that immediately the last time he had that done). Please continue to pray for him, the medical team, and give thanks with us.
