Update on Dad: unfortunately weve had some minor setbacks today. In addition to his urine catheter he now also has one for bowels :-( he had his feeding tube replaced last night b/c it wasnt working correctly. That was a traumatic experience for him and he was begging and pleading saying please-no- Ill do whatever you want. We were all hopeful to get his feeding tube out today but he failed his swallow test. Choked on a tbs of water and had to be suctioned. Hoping tomorrow hes better rested and strong enough to pass. He did have his first physical therapy today and did awesome! Flirted with PT nurse, lifted left leg about 18 inches and counted reps with her. He should have leg brace by the end of the day to immobilize his right leg. They hope to get him sitting up on side of bed by weeks end. He keeps asking for ice cold water, ice-cream, and food. He says, theyre not feeding me, I havent eaten in days. Hes sitting up at more of an incline to help respiratory function but does have a touch of pneumonia we are hoping to zap with antibiotics.
