Update on Dia. She is a lovely, sweet and well-mannered old girl. Easy to give pills to, and baths as well, which is good: Shes getting antibiotics twice a day and baths every other day as we try to turn around her sad, angry skin. After seeing Dr. Bill Porte at the VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center, were under the assumption that it was out-of-control fleas/anxiety and subsequent staph infection. Horses, not zebras, in other words. Well know in a couple of weeks if were right. She also has a couple of small mammary tumors. Well be watching those in the weeks to come. If they stay stable, well let them be. If not, well consider removal. I discussed with Dr. Bill that were going for a comfortable, happy old dog -- no heroics. As always, he is supportive, a fantastic veterinarian and a smart, compassionate man I have worked with for almost 30 years!
