Update on Douglas 1/23/2015 The past two days we spent in Morgantown. Doug had so many appointments. We had to see the Dietician the Social worker, the Finance worker, Transplant coordinator , blood work taken -( took 14 tubes). Bone marrow test. Lungs tested. Heart tested and the last test was for his Eyes to make sure he didnt have any infections. needless to say we were done for by the time we got home yesterday evening.. spent today washing clothes and getting things together for next week. On the 28th He will be getting another port line in his chest and the one taken out of his arm. on the 29th they will be admitting him and starting chemo again to destroy any and all of his cells that have grown back since the last chemo treatment... This will clear his body of all his cells that are bad, to be replaced by his brothers cells which are good. Bill will be getting shots everyday from the 1st -to the 4th this is to get his cells built up and over flowing in his blood stream then his cells will be harvested separated in a machine taking the cells out of the blood and sending the blood back into Bills body then the cells will be taken to Doug where they will immediately put them in him through his IV on the 5th . More cells will be taken from Bill on the 6th in case they need more... Please keep these two special men in your prayers please. They will be going through a lot together in the next couple of weeks... Bill is totally and completely giving of himself living cells taken from his blood and then transferring them into his brothers body giving him that life giving blood his body so desperately needs so that he may have a chance to live a longer life.. without a B-M transplant Doug would not live long... I am so thankful that Bill is doing this for his little brother... Words cant expresses the gratitude we feel inside for such a gift of love to give so freely.. Continue to pray that the transplant will take hold and be a success . We have been told that it will be a hard time for Dougs body to accept these cells from his brother, simply because they are not his own and so his body will fight them because they are foreign cells. They tell us he could get very sick while his body decides whether of not it wants to keep them. This process will take many days, up to 100 we are told. It will be a hard time for us but we are believing that it will be a success, because we know our God is the Great Physician.. And he is here with us every step we take , he is already two ahead of us... Thank You Lord... and thank you prayer warriors in advance for your prayers. will update you again later next week when we have some news .. keep praying... Thanks Tina
