Update on Gary Selmon: Just got home from spending some time with Gary. I took the kids for the first time, they were really unsure of how to talk to him or if they should touch him and they were full of questions! Gary would wake up as soon as we would say his name, he is swallowing but he gags alot still. He is moving around on his bed alot, bending his legs back and forth until he has worn a hole in his sheet. He keeps his eyes open a little longer each time and seems to be looking around the room. The Dr was there the other day when I went and he told me that we need to keep stimulating him and try to get him to follow commands. Well the nurse came in today and said he was agitated and his heart rate was up to 112! I said have you ever had Gary as a patient? She followed with a NO. She said his nurse had to leave early and I need to give him this medicine because he is agitated. She made it obvious that she wanted us to leave. I have a freaking NEWS FLASH FOR HER! Hi, we are the CLAIBORNES, WE ARE GOING NOWHERE! The respitory therapist came in and asked how long we would be there because he needed to clean his trach but didnt want to bother us during family time. Thats more like it!!
