Update on Grace: As Grace continues on her road to recovery, yesterday she was taken off IV fluids and, because she met certain criteria in the number two department, much to her delight, she was allowed to start eating a little bit of soft food. Unfortunately, Graces temperature keeps spiking, despite the neurofen shes being given regularly to reduce it. All blood cultures and urine samples, which were taken on Saturday, to look for infection, have come back negative so far. But the CRP (infection marker), is still quite high so the surgeon reckons the stent in Graces bile duct, by process of elimination, is the source of infection. It has more or less come to the end of its lifespan anyway so its due to be removed soon. Grace was allowed to take her NG tube out (of her nose/stomach) all by herself, today. So thats all tubes removed now except the Hickman line, aka Freddie, which is necessary for chemotherapy and taking blood samples. If you saw Grace now, you would not believe she had major, abdominal surgery so recently. She is climbing in and out if bed by herself, walking upright, and laughing, although the latter is somewhat sore on her belly. The surgeon said if her temperature plateaux for 24/30 hours, we can go home. Yippeeeee!! Some photos of Grace acting the maggot !!!
