Update on Greg Germani, August 10: The recovery from a brain injury is a long, arduous journey, but we are taking joy in all the small, wonderful new things Greg does each day. This weekend, Greg was able to enjoy a visit from his sweet dog, Ruby. Hes also been identifying his brothers, mom, more friends, and me by name. And he writes down some remarkable things: his address, his birthday, Rubys name and a description of her (mostly black tan). And, sorry Georgia fans, he wrote Go Vols. (Ill take the blame for this one since some of us were talking about Tennessee). One of the most exciting discoveries is that Greg can read: he was able to read out loud his nurses name from her name tag, as well as some words written on the board. Were extremely excited that Gregs communication skills are slowly improving. Theres a long way to go: its not always consistent and every little thing requires a tremendous amount of effort and then rest. Nine weeks ago things looked very bleak, but, little by little, were seeing Greg coming up to the surface. Keep praying and sending those good, healing vibrations.
