Update on Justin 9/26 : Sorry for updating so late today! I ended up staying home today because I started getting a runny nose, and wanted to make sure I wasnt going to get a fever or anything, so I have been getting updated by his mom and Justin himself :). Today has been a fantastic day for Justin! Justin has been on oxygen only since Wednesday morning, so he is basically done with the ventilator. To make things even better, the doctor decided to take him off of the oxygen for a couple of hours today and see how his oxygen did. Last I talked to Justin, it was staying up where they want it :)!!! The Dr said that the trach will probably be coming out tomorrow!!!! WOO HOO!!! Vicki told me that the Dr told Justin this morning that he could see his halo shining! God is so good! Other GOOD NEWS: The doctor has decided that Justin is in too good of shape to go to the long term care rehab place! They have decided to start him on Coumadin (will continue to treat the blood clots he had, and prevent further clotting). It can take about 5-6 days for Coumadin to become therapeutic in the blood stream, so this weekend they are planning on transferring him to a step down unit to continue monitoring this, as well as his chest tubes. One of the chest tubes may be also coming out very soon! So possibly after release from the hospital, Justin may go to a regular rehab facility, or if he continues working hard like he is now, he said the doctor mentioned he could end up going home!! I cant even believe it!!! :) I know he is so excited about all of this great news. So MORE good news ( It just keeps coming ;) ) is that Justin called me today and told me that physical therapy got him up and he WALKED IN THE HALLWAY!!!! I really hated I wasnt there to see it, but hopefully I will get to tomorrow :). The dr is putting more of the TPA (clot buster) in one of his chest tubes, just to make sure there isnt any other clotted fluids in his line/chest. He had another CT scan today. Im not 100% sure what all of that said, other than I know that there is still a little bit of air trapped above his left lung, and that is why he will still have the one chest tube for a while, until the hole leaking that air out heals. Everyone is just so impressed and surprised by Justins progress. Yall, this is God working! He is healing Justin, and he has given Justin strength to push forward and beat this! We cannot say thank you enough for your prayers. This whole even will change our lives, and we are so thankful to have had you all praying for all of us. We ask that you continue to pray for healing, strength, and whatever else! Thank you all so much!!!! God is an awesome God!
