Update on Makenzie. Thought this would be the best way to update - TopicsExpress

Update on Makenzie. Thought this would be the best way to update people without sending a million texts messages as late as it is. Its night #2 at childrens. Makenzie is about 7 hours into her 12 hour treatment. Doctors were worried about adverse reactions in the first hour but she made it past the first hour with no issues. Her fever keeps spiking so shes getting meds constantly. Shes still not eating or drinking much. Poor baby is still looking and feeling miserable. Weve tried to make her as comfortable as possible with an IV in her arm, a pulse ox on her finger, and leads on her chest. Hopefully she responds well to the IVIG treatment and we start to see improvement tomorrow. She has to wait a minimum of 24 hours after the treatment to be discharged, but that also depends on if shes still running a fever and how the other test tomorrow look. She needs to get an echo cardiogram tomorrow to see if the Kawasakis or the treatment has affected her heart. There is a slim very chance she can go home late tomorrow evening or possibly Tuesday some time, we just have to wait and see. Docs say she could be here up to 5 days or longer, but we are hoping for a good night and good results. I want to thank all of my friends, family, and fire department family for all of the calls, texts, thoughts, and prayers. I will try to keep everyone updated as best I can.
