Mickey has been delivered to the old First Avenue Jail that has been converted from a jail facility to an animal shelter, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. The dog arrived at the shelter Thursday afternoon and will be cared for by female inmates for the rest of his life, MCSO said. A judge spared the life of Mickey on Tuesday, but declared the dog vicious, ordering Mickey to be neutered, microchipped and defanged by Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. Floridalma Vicente, whose son Kevin was attacked by Mickey, wanted the dog to be put down, but supporters rallied around Mickey and fought to keep him alive. The support for Mickey left Kevins mom shocked. It feels really bad, it feels horrible that there is more support for a dog than your kid,” Vicente said. The 4-year-old victim was attacked when he attempted to remove a bone from the pit bull’s mouth.
