Update on Mom. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. Thank you all so very much! Sharing her post.... I saw a medical oncologist today to join a clinical study for immunology therapy. If I get in and it works for me, I get to take it for 6 1/2 years, so please keep me in your prayers that I get accepted. The drug boosts your immune system to attack the cancer. The clinical trials were very successful for melanoma, which was targeted, but is also showing good results with lung cancer, so the drug company is now working to get it approved for lung cancer, too. If I can take it for six years, chances are good a cure can be found in the meantime. If not, I at least bought six years and by then the drug should be approved for lung cancer so I can continue on it. I can only get it now because it is a study to see whether to approve it for lung cancer. I would be awfully excited if I werent so darn nauseated and tired from the radiation treatments.... oh wait, I AM excited. And the best news, it only cost $143,000 per treatment. Since it is not yet an approved treatment for lung cancer, my insurance will not pay for it. However, my hubby tracked down a study where I could get it and it wont cost us anything! Hes my hero; he has been relentless in tracking down the best treatment for me and it appears to be this. If I do get in this study, things will look much better for me. PLEASE, OH PLEASE, let me be accepted into this study!!! Your prayers are greatly appreciated! And to my Auburn friend, thank you for sending us to your consultant; I wouldnt be here without her much needed advice and guidance. She is a Godsend and we love her
