Update on Mom: so yesterday I climbed Brasstown Bald which is the highest point in Georgia, but that did not compare to the high I felt after talking to my parents last night! Mom had a scan last week while I was in Brazil and the doctor gave her the results yesterday...he said Doris, if I did not know you, your history and current situation and just looked at this scan I would say you have no evidence of disease. What?! That is the best news I have heard all year! Of course she does still have cancer, but it is so small at this point that it does not show up on scans and the spots in her lower lungs just look like possible scar tissue now and not characteristic of cancer...she will continue with radiation on her eye and end on the 9th of April and I think we will go to the beach to celebrate after she finishes!! So, for now, just a shot once a week for maintenance and periodic scans!!! So happy right now!!!
