Update on Rachels parent& teacher conf. If we were to grade her on our old school scale she wouldve had a B-. Which is not bad for a first timer kinder! Her teacher asked us if she was in pre-k before? I am guilty, I didnt teach her anything bc I didnt want to overwhelm her, but she picked up learning her colors, alphabets, etc., by herself Lol... we also learned that bc of the birth-date hittting the cutoff deadline (July) for age limit to attend kinder which DOE has pushed it back to now December of this year, meaning Rachel is considered young to attend kinder, instead of being a regular kinder now...shes a junior kinder. And if they feel she hasnt improved in her school academics.. she will re-attend kinder again that nxt yr.and not proceeding on to 1st grade. Yup, she will re-attend kinder not repeat..... The school system has changed, even the way they teach kinder school kids for instance. Rachel is learning on her sounds more den her shapes & alphabet.. bc they want to speed up their capacity to read.. for instance the (a) has 3 differnt ways of sounding, as well as writing! Do I make sense here? Lol... Also the teacher identified herself as a sub teacher bc reg teacher is on maternity leave.. and so the sub also showed us a letter fr the school shes not highly qualified teacher bc she doesnt have a BA degree...(but does have 2 AA degrees) given her qualification shown & experiences at the school 13yrs is qualified enuff to me (kudos to Ms.Pinky sub; & Mrs.Nakatsuka) So, in conclusion we were pretty impressed with our Parent Teacher Conf. today Jeffery Kaious
