Update on Reese Burdette - Sunday, July 27th (from Laura Dufford Jackson) Good Sunday morning to yall! I feel like everyone read my last post and felt the urgency and need for prayers...and guess what? It worked! All of the extra prayers, the hard prayers, the pleas for Gods help have worked and been heard. Reese is having a tremendous weekend! No, she isnt sitting up in bed eating ice cream yet like we would all love to see, but she has made some big strides in improvement. This mornings x-rays showed huge changes, you can actually see the shape of the lungs and see some good sized areas of air! Such a welcome sight. She has been weaned down to 65% on ECMO which means the ECMO is doing 65% of the work while she is doing 35%...this is HUGE! This little girl is trying...I have been trying to let you all know how much she is trying and this should tell the story...she tries so darn hard. I would venture to say that she is probably as good today as she has been in maybe 5 weeks. So what we ask of you today is to thank God for hearing our pleas and prayers...thank Him and ask for more...she still needs more prayers, she needs to get off of ECMO and we are headed in the right direction right now. Pray for continued improvement with the lungs, pray for gas exchange in the lungs, pray for Reese to stay strong and hold her own. Please dont forget to thank God for what he has given us thus far...and right now we feel more hopeful than we have in a long time. No, we have never given up hope but right now, that hope feels so good. Thanks to you all for your support....support through the 2 events that were held for Mom and Reese this weekend (One in Mercersburg and one in Berryville). Thanks to those that still send cards, and thanks to those that pray every day and think of this family. We are making progress!
