Update on Sadie: I found out she likes French fries! Great for our training and my wallet (Im a server so I can get free French fries all the time), not so great for her weight loss regimen. Oh well. Anyways, training has been going so much better now. Before if we left the house she would just shut down and refuse treats. I tried every kind of treat I could possibly think of and she wouldnt take anything once she went into that state. Well a few weeks ago I took her to the dog event they have at the water park every year, and was just offering her everything I had to eat that day, and she scarfed down the fries! I was so happy. Now Ive been able to take the clicker on walks, which has helped training so much. Shes so much calmer and more confident when were out and about. Her head and tail are up and sometimes even her ears are up and every once in a while her tail will wag. Im so so happy for her. Her bed is very slowly becoming her happy place, just like Id hoped. I have special lamb treats she loves that I give to her when she goes to her bed on her own. Ive noticed her going to it more and more to calm down. Unfortunately she still has a lot of generalized anxiety. Sometimes she pants and paces for no apparent reason. I can distract her with treats, play, chews, etc., but as soon as the distraction stops she goes right back to the fearful behavior. I have an appointment with the vet tomorrow and Im going to ask about medication for her. Ill let everyone know how it goes. :)
