Update on Summer Cuevas: First and foremost, all glory and praise to God!! Many, many thanks from my friend, Beth, on your continued prayers. Great news: It is NOT cancer. A little background: For the last 2 years, Summer has been breaking out with bumps under her skin and lesions to the point that it attacked her stomach, arms, face and back. She visited many dermatologists and other doctors and nobody could figure out what was wrong. The knots in her lymph nodes had become rock hard and very painful. She went in for a routine eye exam 4 days ago and the eye doctor saw the mass behind her eye. A ct scan confirmed the mass. She was referred to UAB as their neurology department is one of the top in the nation. The prognosis is neurosarcoidosis; a disease that results from a specific type of inflamation of tissues of the body. In this instance, it appeared in her lymph nodes and because it went untreated (because it was never diagnosed) it traveled to the brain and rested itself on the center of the optic nerve. She will be treated with steroids which is expected to reduce the inflamation. My prayer is that not only does the mass shrink, but by the power of the Great Physician the mass disappears to bring Summer to total health restoration. We give You all the glory Father!!
