Update on Terry Terrys fever is down, she has a urinary tract infection. She slept all night! Thats a big deal :) today the occupational therapist and the physical therapist came to see her and are beginning to work with her. She sat up in her wheel chair today with a bit more ease so that was nice. Terry has lived for years of not being able to sit straight up or stand for too long because she would get extremely dizzy and a headache with a heart rate that would soar to 140 beats per minute in an instant. Today her heart rate remains pretty much in the 80s, her head wasnt hurting when she sat up, and she wasnt dizzy other than when she was turning in her chair. The thought of possibly placing a permanent trachea in terry is gone! No worries for that anymore as she doing well in that department. She did have a swallow study done today and her throat muscles that swallow arent working... Although she can cough things back up (thats why she doesnt need a trachea. So terry cannot at this time drink or eat by mouth. She would try but would just go through these coughing/ choking kicks. So she will be starting therapy on that to get her going. Her motor skills are what seems to be the weakest right now, but doc says this will take time, her brain has been through a lot. Through this, i am learning much patience. Its ok... We have time, and her little piano playing fingers will back at playing music in no time. A few people have asked if they can send her something. I dont mind, i just ask that you dont send anything that she would eat or drink since she cant and i dont want to discourage her. She will be going out ICU today and will be going to room 510- bed 2 her last name is Webb. And we are at the CHILDRENS HOSPITAl OF ORANGE COUNTY or otherwise known as CHOC. Its a long raod, but we got this! Always! Love you guys! Thanks for giving us the support to have strength.
