Update on Tom: maybe it was not a good idea for me to have been - TopicsExpress

Update on Tom: maybe it was not a good idea for me to have been away for a full day yesterday. They just took Tom into IR for another procedure, in fact the second one today. It takes a team of 4 seals with their red backpacks to take him to surgery. He is just getting another PICC line, as they now want to remove the Central Line as the PICC is less prone to infection. This morning he had to have a third chest tube put in as he had a partial lung collapse on the right side. And on top of all that he had PT come in and sit him up on the side of the bed. You probably dont realize how very difficult it is for someone that has been lying in bed for 50-days to sit-up. The first time he tried with three people helping, he darn near passed out. The second time all he could do is lean against a body for 3-minutes. And I just kept telling him he was doing great when alI I wanted to do was tell everyone to leave him alone and throw up myself. It will be easier tomorrow, and it will get easier each day as he rebuilds his strength. I am so proud of this man I love, what a fighter. The heck with all this nonsense about an iron-man. In my opinion Tom is an iron-man and I am so proud of him. He has more courage and strength than anyone and I love this man so much. So now we are reassessing the reality of just how fragile his right lung is and what our next steps are. We were trying to wait until he got off the vent to do any surgery as it is such a high risk; however, we may not be able to hold-off any longer. We will know more tomorrow. We take one day at a time, and put one foot in front of the other and keep on plodding along. This morning I was feeling sorry for myself and then I felt a bit ashamed when I see what my amazing husband is going through and how strong he is. We can do this God. We can be patient and wait. Thank you God for healing Tom, and restoring his body, mind and spirit fully and bringing him home soon.
