Update on Van and such, The Dish van is still in Boston (Georgia) - TopicsExpress

Update on Van and such, The Dish van is still in Boston (Georgia) right where I left it last night. The tow truck is setting in the ditch about a quarter mile closer to the highway. The tractor was not strong enough to pull the tow truck out so they put it back on the Flatbed and took it back to the shop. The tow truck driver brought me home in his car and will bring the Van here to the house when they get it out. Believe this or not, he got stopped for speeding while bringing me to the house. The road was dry when I went to do the job of upgrading a customer to High Def and putting in new receivers. There was no Line of sight for one of the 3 satellites, so could not upgrade the dish but did replace the receivers. It rained a little while I was at the house, but not a lot. The house was about 5 miles from the main Road (Highway 19). When I left the house the first road I went down Pig Sauls Road was OK. I turned onto 12 Mile Post Road and it wasnt too bad but it began raining fairly hard. I slowed way down and was going between 5 and 10 MPH when the back end of the truck began to pull to the right side, I tried to turn into the skid as they tell you in Drivers Ed and I have found to work in the past but there was absolutely no traction and the right rear tire got too close to the ditch which then pulled the rest of the van in. Note that 12 Mile Post Road is the last road on 19 in Georgia according to the tow truck driver, I did not check the map. The area where the van is at was where they had cut through a hill to make the road so the entire right side of the van is setting against what is basically a dirt wall. and only about 3/4 of a mile from Highway 19. The wrecker they sent to get me could not make it to me and stopped about a quarter mile down the road the driver then walked down to the van. we walked back to his truck together and he managed to get turned around but could not make it up a small hill and ended up in the ditch also. Then he called for the tractor, which I expected to see a big John Deere or similar tractor but was a Kubota with a front end loader and not really that big. The tractor could not pull out the tow truck, so they took it back to the shop. Made it to the house about 4 AM. Tow truck Driver told me they would go back in today to get the van and truck with something they called the Green Machine which is on its way back from Atlanta. Have no idea when the Van will get here. Wrecker Driver said he had been up working since 2 AM on the 12th and he still had to go back to Cairo(Georgia) before he would get any sleep. Right now I think I am going to try to get some more sleep. You all have a great day
