Update on Zack: he has been taken off the sedation and pain medicines yesterday and since, he has not responded to any stimulus. They said that sometimes it takes people a long time for all of the medicines to leave the body so we are still in a holding pattern there. They did a CT scan and see that the brain is still swollen/bruised but there is no bleeding at all which is good. They would like to do a MRI but since the MRI is magnetic, they can’t due to the bullet in his neck. In the meantime we are awaiting a consult from a Neurologist to see what they possibly suggest. He currently isn’t tolerating the nutritional supplements that they are giving him through the feeding tube, so they have started him on some medications to help with that and are planning on doing an Abdominal ultrasound to take a look at his Gallbladder. They will also be looking at his Liver as well because his Bilirubin (Jaundice) is high. We will keep you posted as we find out more. Please keep praying as my brother is fighting so hard.
