Update on dog Jacks status: It has been 26 hours since last seizure. So he is on a maintenance dose of phenobarbitol and it is working. I just left him after a 30 minute visit and he is exhausted today, still not able to stand. Consulted with Mondays round of different doctors than the weekends and they have a different opinion and prognosis. I am going with this new version which thinks it is possible that if we begin aggressively treating a potential brain infection with heavy duty antibiotics right now, if that is the problem he has a good chance of recovery!!!! i actually feel a glimmer of hope today. The tests which we had originally ordered to be performed today (chest xrays, abdominal ultrasound) would not, in these doctors opinions, yield a result that could explain such a drastic neurological response. They are certain I would have noticed a slow deterioration over time if it was cancer. So we will watch how he responds over the next 48 hours and hold off on any tests.
