Update on homeless: Before taking Gaven to school, we stopped by the Dollar Store to pick up more things....10 pair of black winter socks and thermal underwear. After dropping Gaven off, we headed toward Shepherdsville asking God to help us find this man. I know it was Gods will since He has laid him on my heart. After driving around, we drove into the Big Lots strip mall area...I saw a large man with his back turned to the public just staring at a wall. We drove by and it was HIM. Yes, God had made the connection. I jumped out of the car and tapped him on the shoulder introducing myself. His name is Charles....Charles Wise. I noticed the many layers of clothing he wore. He had the backpack and now a pillow case stuffed with things. I told him I had gifts for him and placed one of the toboggans I had bought on his head. He smiled. I noticed he had no gloves and reached into my bag to take out the thick gloves we bought yesterday. His hands were large and I hoped theyd fit. I helped him pull them on. They fit! I handed him the other bags with socks and thermal underwear. I asked him if he were hungry; however he said no. I thanked God for allowing us to find him; but I still didnt feel easy. So we turned the car around and once again I asked him if we could buy him breakfast. He said he would like that. He wanted to go to McDs but I informed him they were closed down due to construction. So we drove to The Pancake House. He had so much thick clothes on that he literally squeezed into the back seat. We walked in....and I handed the waitress a $20 and told her to give him anything he wanted and to make sure he gets the change back....he was homeless. There were 3 waitresses. They smiled at him and asked him if he would like the Star breakfast (whatever that is) and he smiled stating YES. As we drove away, we noticed two more homeless with bundles and pushing a cart. Yes...they were homeless. I had no idea we had so many here in our small town. Charles said he had been in the military and boot camp. Glenn said he could make out the word Iraq. He was a little incoherent; however, he also stated he had gone to Southern High....Louisville. I asked him what he does and he stated he just walked around all day. I looked into his eyes and could actually see him as a little boy....someones son now homeless. He didnt speak unless I spoke to him. He sometimes just rambled. Only he and God knows his story. There is work to be done......
