Update on our Secret Santa surprise we told you about earlier in the week... Last weekend Chief Howell was contacted by a local citizen who wished to remain anonymous. This Secret Santa donated a substantial amount of money for the police department to provide random acts of kindness to deserving and needy members of our community. The Racine Police Department partnered with HSD and the Food Bank to select two families. Each family was provided with a full meal for Christmas. When the families came to the COP house to pick up their baskets last Saturday, officers on hand spoke casually to the kids and family members about their dream Christmas wish lists. Unbeknownst to the families, the officers then went out and purchased the items they were told about. One family received their gifts last weekend and the other received a Christmas Eve delivery. 2nd Shift patrol officers delivered the gifts on Christmas Eve and let the kids tour their squad car and all! We are so blessed in this community. We have so many generous citizens and organizations. THANK YOU Secret Santa for allowing us to carry out your random acts of kindness. What an uplifting way to celebrate the holiday season!
