Update on our case defending a downtown Bangor business from what was in our opinion an illegal assessment from the State of Maine Workers Compensation Bureau. We had won the case in front of the Appeals Board and then the State with 3 attorneys responding asking the Appeal Board to change its mind essentially from its original dec in our favor. Today we received the 6 page decision from the Appeals Board holding firm to their decision in our favor. Now the State will have to decide if they are going to have to appeal this up to the State Supreme Court. This is a case about genuine independent contractors and genuine small business people as someone who grew up and worked in a family small business I know how important that is to our economy.
