Update on the Charter Street strays - spent almost three hours up there with them today, with Karen, whos helping me. The RSPCA Inspector met us there and she was so nice (though a little stunned by the amount of cats!) Shes given us the neutering vouchers and lent us a trap but the vets can only take them for neuter at the start of the week, so we cant start trapping until Monday. This cat in the photos, however, if everything goes to plan, is going to Blackburn Cat Rescue tomorrow. She appears to be heavily pregnant and so Eunice said shed take her in, but then this afternoon we saw her feeding kittens! She could well be pregnant again already, even if shes still feeding her last litter, but if shes not then there is something wrong, so Eunice said get her in anyway. Well see tomorrow (if I can catch mum and kittens) just what the swollen tum is all about. There is the big black boy that Ive previously posted a photo of, who is handleable. He has cuts behind his ears that need attention, so the RSPCA Inspector said they will take him and treat him if I can catch him. So were making slow progress here. We are reconciled to this being a very long job. Were prepared to be on it for months. What we will do is take one cat at a time. As we find a home for one, we will catch that one, take him/her straight to the vets for neutering and then from the vets to the new home. Oh, and we found out where the little sods who are terrorising the strays live and have passed the address on to the Inspector, who assures us she will be having a word with their parents.
