Update on the goings on with the feral cat community in Asheboro. Sunday evening Susan Conner brought back 11 trapped cats. They were put in our storage building and Judy provided both food and water. The next morning when I went to take them to the Humane Society he noticed that one had escaped. Judy probably left the door open. After the operations I picked them up and brought them back to the storage building where Judy once again provided food and water. Monday evening Susan brought another cat back and the same procedure was followed. Tuesday morning back to the Humane Society, another feeding Tuesday evening and the last cat Peanuts was picked up and brought to the storage building, pregnant no longer. Wednesday afternoon prior to Susan taking all 11 back to Asheboro Judy again provided water and food. This was necessary because there is no doubt when they were released in Asheboro Wednesday they were going to scatter with no food or water available. The missing cat was spotted nearby Wednesday afternoon and we have hopes that it can be trapped a second time. It is a kitten and the chances are good. The main point here is that if it were not for the dedicated effort of two Project BARK volunteers these 11 cats would still be producing in Asheboro as four of the females were pregnant and one was in heat. Additionally if it were not for the generosity of many of our benefactors who donated to the MEOW Fund none of this would have been possible. Bob
