Update on the young lady who is out of state and struggling. Yesterday, I searched her area for good therapists. I was really excited to find three. Then, this is where the miracles start, she went to meet with a court appointed program director who required her to find a therapist today and report back. She actually has 4 names to call. And she has to go to therapy. She wants to go too. Progress. All she needs is willingness and a little help. Yes she has parents who are struggling in their own lives. One of them actually reached out to me for help months ago but has since emotionally and mentally disappeared. Denial is a dangerous tool sometimes and useful others. This young person was in the hospital this year, drugged, and sent home. Hasnt been in consistent therapy and they took her off the medication. So, shes virtually done nothing to change her suicidal lifestyle. Do parents really not understand that without changing thought patterns, without learning coping methods, kids stay in the same destructive patterns? Are we so dependent on the medical industry and quick fixes that they think popping a pill will do the job? Im very concerned! In another situation, a young person was in the hospital for 5 days or so about a month ago. They were drugged, sent home. They havent seen a therapist yet. How does the hospital allow this? Both hospital and therapeutic options owned by the same company. A rather predominant company. I dont understand. Kids, if youre struggling, youve got to speak up! And you cant stop asking for help, therapy, until you get it! Yes, thats what you do! If your parents wont acknowledge the need, then call the hospital yourself. They wont take you away!
