Update on young widow with three kids. We stopped by unannounced to see how the young mother of three was doing since the last time we where in Haiti. If you remember we left her with an entrepreneur kit last time to help her be able to be more sufficient. Many of you made donations to specifically help her, and we where able to also get her some food, and cooking items. She is in a better position today than she was 2 months ago when we came. Sadly she is still not in a position to move to a safer home with her children. She has been able to sell most of the items we brought to her and with that money she was able to put her children back in school. She also was able to get some cooking supplies and is now able to make peanut butter and sell it to some local schools. She is a strong woman and full of faith, determination, and motherly love. We prayed with her and asked her how we could best help her. One way would be to help her secure a small store where she could sell items, and her children could come to after school, as of right now she has to be out selling on the streets and can not be home for her children when they are home for school. She has three children, 10, 9, and 5. Her life was completely turned upside down after her husband died in the 2014 Earthquake. She now tries to fulfill both the role of Father and Mother in a country stricken with severe poverty. We told her, that we did not know why we where led to help her, but would help her as much as we can so her and her children can stay together and she would not be forced to add more children into the parentless walls of an orphanage.
