Update shelter modification Rock Springs WY...Here an update on shelter improvements... I feel the meager roofs could be improved in regards to size, location in all pens, and meeting the needs of all horses, not just sick ones. It just cant be that difficult to provide a solid roof structure the size of a riding arena with open walls but mounted on solid posts for horses to have escape routes. The horses will utilize such shade once they know it provides the comfort they seek without hazards to them. The wind screen is a good idea - yet if it will hold up and protect from harsh blizzards... remains to be seen. It is NOT enough. With all the industrial solid roof types available out there, it puzzles me how an American Federal Agency can only come up with this. The planned improvements for 2015 still dont seem to include any such improvements for increased comfort for the horses... but other areas only. As for Fallon... the small triangle mounted over a pen cant meet the need for more than one to two horses and is non-efficient. I think there is much room to improve still... on all fronts of increased comfort that the engineering staff of BLM needs to consider.
