Update (sort of): Its hard to believe that its been six months since I ate food by mouth...and over 6 months since I spoke a word in my own voice. It seems so unreal to think about...but its not that bad. I miss talking more than eating. I cant stand how the trach makes my voice sound like a garbled robot. Its frustrating because I cant pronounce certain letters and Danny cant understand me. I know this will improve when the trach comes out...so Im not worried. I used to be such a foodie though! It boggles my mind that I dont miss it. I still enjoy cooking and smelling it and Im totally okay with just those aspects. They tell you to be careful what you wish for....well I used to wish to lose weight and have more time to paint. Ive lost 90 lbs this past year, and only 20 of that was through proper diet and nutrition. The rest was lost as a side effect of my challenging situation. But...once again...okay because I got new clothes! Whoo Hoo! And best of all...more time to paint because I got my life back. With special thanks to God, the Universe, a brilliant group of Doctors, caring nurses, loving partner, supportive family and friends and wonderful furry creatures. I couldnt be happier...thank you all! Now to concentrate on getting the trach out, getting rid of coughing/mucus, and driving my Miata again....my life will be even more complete!
