Update to everyone: CHamonix was bitten at our spay day by a very sick dog that was busy being put to sleep. We took her for antibiotics and tetanus shots. The infection rapidly got much worse somwe took hermto medi city in Somerset West. They said she needs to be operated on and wanted R30 000 for a 3 days stay and 2 drainange opps, but then referred us to HH state hospital, we sat there for hours and when the at last she was seen by 2 different doctors both agreed their hospital did not have the surgeon to do the opp so they referred us to tygerberg. We went back to medi city to see a specialist for a fast stabilising drip, by the time he saw her for the 2 nd time that night he said that the infection was spreading fast and that he had a contact at tygerberg a Dr...and he had arranged for her to get a bed and theatre immediately. He sent her with an emergency referral in an ambulance we had to pay cash for. That was last night 11pm, DR J saw her, opened a file, told her there were no beds and she had to wait as there are 40 opperations before her. She was not given any meds or painkillers. This morning at 11 she had still not seen a doc or received any treatment, when we phoned medicty their price had gone up to R91000 deposit to help her. Tygerberg said they didnt have the antibiotics she needed and they needed to order and there were still nomopen beds. With us sat a lady that had been been waiting 3 weeks for her arm opp. The hospital was called from different people on the outside trying to get her help, one doc after the other said she was onnwaiting list etc but couldn not confirm if she was going to even get a bed today. We took her to another 3 different private doctors untill finally we found one that could give her a intraveneous antibiotics drip and gen pyn. She was then sent home. We have to be at medi cross tomorrow at 11 am meanwhile her arm and infection is gettingnworse and worse. Tygerberg cant help for days and she needs surgery ASAP! Its been a verrrrrrry long night and day have not received the care she needs at all. Thanks for all the messages we appreciate the messages, we have thus far literally tried everything we could, tried every doc and medical person we were in contact with, and we are very dissapointed. Her treatment continues tomorrow, we will keep everyone updated. All your help is needed!!! Thank you x
