Update to pursuit early yesterday morning: On 01/11/15 at approximately 0430 hours Deputies J. Hunt and his K-9 partner “Gunnar” along with Deputy Pfiefer and his K-9 Partner “Enzo” responded to assist WSP who had a vehicle flee from a trooper on Interstate 90. Due to the speeds reaching over 120 mph the trooper terminated the pursuit, but moments later found the suspect car crashed on Interstate 90 near Liberty Lake. Deputy J. Hunt and Gunnar tracked the suspect to the Quality Inn, through the hotel and through a field before coming to a tall chain link fence topped with barbwire. Deputy Hunt observed the male on the other side of the fence running and directed other units toward his location. Deputy Pfiefer and Enzo deployed into the field from the opposite side of the fence and located the suspect who surrendered without incident. It was later determined that the suspect is a convicted felon, was in possession of a loaded fire arm and was driving a stolen vehicle.
