THW scale back the development of renewable technology and invest in geo-engineering instead. B. THBT scientific research pertaining to climate change should focus on mitigation than whether it is a human-made problem. C. When they fail to reduce carbon emission, THBT developed countries should accept environmental refugees from climate change-vulnerable regions. Round 2 (HEART Round) A. THBT it is legitimate for private citizens to use violence to stop poachers in the act. B. THW not allow the display of endangered species for profit. C. THW ban the sale and consumption on sharks fins instead of imposing sin tax. Round 3 (WIND Round) A. THBT countries affected by the haze should pay Indonesia to stop using the slash-and-burn method for agriculture. B. THBT the state should subsidise petrol only for people who live in rural areas. C. THBT multinational corporations operating in developing nations should be compelled to follow the environmental standards of western liberal democracies. Round 4 (FIRE Round) A. THW ban oil companies from owning patents of renewable energy technology. B. THW disallow disaster-prone countries from building nuclear power plants. C. THW make electricity consumption pay as you go (similar to the way you top-up your SIM cards). Round 5 (WATER Round) A. THW privatize the provision of water. B. THW suspend operations of oil companies until they have cleaned all the spill residue & paid all compensation for damages. C. THBT cutting off water to ones enemies should be regarded as a war crime. Quarter-finals A. THW impose an environmental tax to island visitors B. THW compel all mountaineering clubs to fulfill a quota of environmental efforts (i.e.: planting trees, recycling) for every climb C. THW require the immediate communities consent before establishing eco-tourism in that area Semi-finals A. THW make companies liable for the environmental damage done by their subcontractors B. THW impose a global ban on the consumption of meat C. THBT international finance institutions should not fund natural resource extraction projects in countries with low environmental standards Championship Round A. THW ban countries from trading their carbon credits B. THBT environmental organizations should refuse funding and sponsorship from highly polluting companies C.
