Updated Version: GAMBIAN SARAHULLEH COMMUNITY MOURNS ONE OF ITS PROMINENT TYCOONS, ALHAGIE ABOULATIF TOURAY The Touray Kunda Xabila of Sotuma Sere Village in the Upper River Region (URR), the people of the same community and members of the Sarahulleh/Soninke Communities in and out of The Gambia are mourning the passing of Alhagie Aboulatif Touray. He responded to the call of the Almighty Allah on Thursday February 27, 2014 on his way from Guinea Bissau back to The Gambia. He has just been laid to rest in Kanifing this Friday February 28, 2014 after “Jumah” prayers... Alhagie Aboulatif Touray who was one of the many maternal grandfathers of the Founder of NTI XANNEN Rajon Do Televisonka (NXR.tv) was among the prominent fabulously rich tycoons of the Gambian mercantile Sarahulleh Community. His phalanx of business holdings include a conglomerate of diamonds, real estate, financial services (money transfer) and agro-industrial units in The Gambia, Senegal, USA , Saudi Arabia and other places. He was very active in ploughing back substantial part of his enormous wealth into the community by setting up “Madrassas” in Serrekunda (Bartes) and his native Sotuma Sere Village. During the annual lean months of the rainy season and “Ramadan”, he extended food and other financial aid to the needy. Kissima (grand father) Aboulatif was also paying school fees and sponsoring the travel plans of countless young men and women in and out of The Gambia. Young entrepreneurs seeking capital to start-up innovative business ventures also benefited from his economic empowerment grants. Alhagie Aboulatif is survived by four wives, numerous children, grandchildren and great grand children.
