Updates from the Cull Zone. Day 34. Apologies for being a bit - TopicsExpress

Updates from the Cull Zone. Day 34. Apologies for being a bit lazy with updates lately - lets just say that it has been busy and we hope you can forgive us :) The morning began with a visit to a couple of hunts - the Cotswold Vale Farmers Hunt who were around the south of the cull zone and the Ledbury Hunt who were hunting just outside of the zone, but who own land signed up to the cull in various areas of the central part of the zone. Photos to follow (theres a very exciting one of an absolutely huge badger latrine which we know youre all itching to see...) Well, tonight the mist is our ally(!) and has been settling down since late evening, decreasing visibility and likelihood of shooting. A number of shooting attempts were made earlier in the night, however, with one group of shooters trying around 3 times at the same setts. A couple of local sabs were able to disrupt the shooters when they first entered land around 6pm and began shooting, followed by the thwarting of another couple of attempts by a small group in the area with sleeping-shift-plans and powerful torches. Thanks for being there! More attempts to shoot, whether by cull contractors or others were also foiled - despite only just covering the zone with a bit of a skeleton crew in some areas, were still finding and stopping killing which makes it all worthwhile. Hedley-watch was up-and-running once again tonight as we know what hes up to this year and how he is involved in the shambles that is the cull. Hes not the only one... but he is the only one with a fantastic name, so he keeps being mentioned. Anyone who can guess his 2 middle names wins a week-long-stay at the fantastic Pub-Badger for free - only a pound per entry to the competition :P Food was served once again at around midnight - as always, a welcome and warming break from the cold and quiet, especially if youre getting it delivered to you! :) Its almost a week to go now until the end and, while were not letting our hopes get raised as we can never assume that they wont approve an extension, its definitely nice to see the final days of the cull getting closer and closer. To those resting in their cars overnight, sleep well. Thanks again to everyone who made it out overnight, to those who came out to the 2am meeting and those who we shall be seeing once again for daytime checks in just a few hours. Office-sab signing off the internet for a few hours kip - as always, call if you need us! GBO
